President Message

GREETINGS AND WISHING THE MEMBERS A HAPPY NEW YEAR- 2022
It is a great privilege for me to take over as the President of the prestigious scientific association, the “Cotton Research and Development Association (CRDA)” for the period of 2021-2023. The CRDA is one of the inimitable professional cum scientific associations exclusively devoted to the cause of cotton research and development in the country and is serving for three decades. The association is participating in AICCIP group meetings & conferences and making efforts to publish cotton related research across the country and abroad through its periodic scientific journal “Journal of Cotton Research and Development”. The journal is utterly devoted to scientific papers of the members/scientists for the dissemination of the basic and applied cotton related research and technology. The society is credited for organizing several National and International symposiums on cotton research in the recent past. The outgoing President and the Executive Council of the society deserve appreciation as they have played a pivotal role in development of the association and successfully organized a National Symposium on "Cotton Production Technologies in the Next Decade: Problems and Perspectives" at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar (Odisha) in 2020. They have also started the website www.crdaindia.com of the society and the online journal for publication. Dr. M.S. Chauhan, the present Secretary has played a significant role in improving the image of CRDA in different capacities since the inception of the Association in 1986. After his retirement in 2004, he was fully devoted to the welfare of the Association.

To perpetuate the spirit and zeal of welfare of the association which has a yeoman service of three decades, I have my own aims and vision as listed below, which I will try to realize with the kind support of the executive council and the members of the association.
  1. Expanding the participation of different "Chapters" of SAUs/ Central ICAR institutes in the activities of the association who are actively involved in cotton research and development.
  2. Initiating and accelerating the process of a life membership drive to have participation of the students and young scientists engaged in cotton research across the country.
  3. Organising National/International Symposiums on cotton research and technologies at different cotton research institutions in collaboration with ICAR/SAUs/MNCs involved in cotton research.
  4. Strengthening the society for financial stability with effective policies and programmes to serve its esteemed members effectively and efficiently.
  5. Timely Publishing the "Journal of Cotton Research and Development" and improving its quality to match the international standard. Making the Journal available ONLINE free of cost and commencing the online editing, processing and publishing the journal on time to improve its NAAS rating on priority.
With these aims and vision for the welfare of the association, I have assumed the responsibility of the President. I, along with the present executive council, request the spirited and whole hearted support of all esteemed members to achieve these aims during our tenure to popularize the association among the scientific community. I reassure the long term welfare of the association and continued growth of cotton research and development.

Dr. Y. G. Prasad
